Based in George, Decks etc. supply and install decking projects throughout The Garden Route. Since 2009 we have built up an impressive list of successfully completed residential and commercial projects, from Oudtshoorn to George, Stilbaai to Keurboomstrand. Having started life as a multi-product agency (Local Solutions) the growth and success of our decking products now allows us to create a specialist division handling Decking and related products.
OUR SERVICES
Decking
We supply and install timber and composite decking. Timber gives the most natural look and initially costs less than composite. It does however require more maintenance and will have a shorter lifespan. Composite decking comes in various styles, colours and qualities but will last in excess of 30 years with zero/minimal maintenance. Please contact us to discuss the various options and look at samples.
Boardwalks
Boardwalks require special care, design and installation. Timber sub-structure needs extra protective treatment if in contact with water. Installations on sand dunes must cause minimal disturbance to the surrounding fauna, yet be strong enough to withstand ground movement. Beach access paths must resist constant attack from the ocean. We handle all that for you.
Cladding
Both timber planks and composite boards can and have been used for cladding. Specifically designed composite cladding systems have now become available offering an extremely low maintenance option when creating architectural features, or simply cladding a timber frame home. These profiles fit together with hidden fasteners and are easily cleaned. Wooden cladding is also available but may require ongoing maintenance and care.

Whether from timber or Composite profiles, we can create a solution for your requirement. There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ option here and we will design and install a structure that meets the needs of each individual situation.

Cleaning
Timber decks decay over time. Sanding your timber deck will remove the decay, but it also removes some of the wood, making the deck weaker, and possibly dangerous. It will also remove the grooves you get in some decking planks. Cleaning with a high-pressure hose is NOT recommended, as this destroys the structure of the timber, leading to accelerated decay, splintering and cracking. Cleaning with bio-degradable chemicals and a powered scrubbing machine is the ideal solution.
Screens
There are a variety of reasons for screens, be it for privacy, shade, protection from the wind or just a design feature. Both timber and composite options are available and have been installed in various applications along The Garden Route. Often installed at heights, the lack of maintenance required for composite makes them a better long-term option, but it depends on the design elements in the rest of the structure. We can design a bespoke solution for your exact requirement.
Seating
Decks are entertainment spaces, so we often incorporate seating elements into the design. These can sometimes double as storage spaces. Seating can be straight or curved, wall mounted or floor mounted, separate structures, or attached to the decking – the choice is yours.
Balustrades
Raised decks require some type of barrier to ensure their safe use. Whilst there are a wide range of options available from frameless glass to netting based structures, SANS 10404 dictates the specifications required of a balustrade in order to meet safety requirements and conform to building codes. We specialize in composite, timber and stainless steel cable hand-railings and can match our design to suit your project.
Steps
Often overlooked, steps are an integral part of most buildings and decks. Each case is unique and we will design a solution that suits your requirement from the simplest open staircases to closed composite steps, we can accommodate any design. This can also include lighting options.
Fencing
There are lots of options here, depending firstly on whether the fencing is decorative or for security. Should it be solid or see-through, high or low…. From the various materials and profiles available we can offer you the best solution from timber, composite profiles, stainless steel cable fencing or a combination of the above.

Latest Projects
Hartenbos Lagoon
We installed this new deck on the edge of the Hartenbos lagoon. Capped composite decking, with steps up to the Jacuzzi and down to the beach below as well as feature cladding to the house.
Myoli Beach, Sedgefield
With the decking now finished, we need to build some box seats and handrails. More images when we are finished, but what a fantastic view from this beautiful new home, high on the sand dunes of Sedgefield!
Plettenberg Bay
The client had an existing timber deck around the Jacuzzi, but the timber had splayed and warped under the weight of the Jacuzzi, and the steps were difficult to use.
